Bryant scores 46 points as Lakers inflict defeat on Raptors (3:45 p.m)

TORONTO - Kobe Bryant scored 46 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers over the Toronto Raptors 121-101 in Friday's NBA action.

The win came hours after the Lakers acquired Pau Gasol in a trade with Memphis. Gasol will undergo a physical Saturday and could make his Lakers debut Sunday.

The Lakers had lost four of their past five.

The Raptors lost for the first time in seven games at home. Kings 112, Hornets 103

In Sacramento, California, the home team handed New Orleans successive losses for the first time in seven weeks.

Ron Artest scored 24 points and Kevin Martin added 22 on his 25th birthday for the Kings.

The Hornets fell behind by 26 points in the second quarter before a second-half comeback attempt fell short.

Magic 108, 76ers 106

In Philadelphia, Hedo Turkoglu hit two free throws with 2.4 seconds remaining to give Orlando victory over Philadelphia and a third straight win.

Turkoglu finished with 23 points for the Magic, who earned their NBA-best 18th road win while recording their fourth straight victory in Philadelphia.

Jazz 96, Wizards 87

In Washington, Utah posted its seventh straight win by downing Washington, moving two games clear atop the Northwest Division.

Mehmet Okur scored 27 points, 19 in the second half, and had 11 rebounds for the Jazz, who won with All-Star Carlos Boozer scoring only four points.

Warriors 127, Bobcats 96

In Oakland, California, Golden State beat Charlotte to make Jason Richardson miserable in his return to Oakland.

Monta Ellis scored 21 points and Stephen Jackson had 19 for the Warriors, who rolled to a 34-point lead in the third quarter of their ninth win in 12 games.

Richardson had 10 points on 2-of-9 shooting in a dismal return to the arena where he became a Golden State favorite during six seasons with the club before joining Charlotte.

It was the Bobcats' third loss in four games.

Timberwolves 104, Clippers 83

In Minneapolis, Minnesota finally moved away from having the worst record in the NBA, beating Los Angeles to win for the fifth time in seven games.

Al Jefferson scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in three quarters and Craig Smith added 21 points for the Timberwolves, who now have one win more than Miami, which becomes officially the worst team in the league.

The Clippers played their third straight game without leading scorers Corey Maggette and Chris Kaman, who both were ill.

Nets 94, Heat 85

In Miami, New Jersey snapped a seven-game road losing streak with victory over hapless Miami.

Richard Jefferson scored 25 points to lead the Nets, who have won successive games following a nine-game losing streak.

Rockets 106, Pacers 103

In Indianapolis, Houston won its sixth straight road victory by beating Indiana.

Rookie Carl Landry scored 13 of his career-high 22 points in the fourth quarter to guide the Rockets home.

The Pacers dropped their fifth straight game.

Trail Blazers 94, Knicks 88, OT

In Portland, Oregon, Brandon Roy had 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists a night after being picked for his first All-Star game, leading Portland over New York in overtime.

It was Roy's first career triple-double.

The Knicks lost their fourth straight on a five-game road trip. (AP)
