City health: Dengue cases on the rise in Zambo (6:28 p.m.)
ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Zamboanga City Health Officer Rodel Agbulos said there is a need to intensify the anti-dengue campaign, citing the rising number of people afflicted with the disease.
Agbulos said the number of dengue cases have soared further, bringing the total to 434.
Twenty-eight cases had been added to the registered cases in his office after the declaration of a dengue alert in the city.
The alert was declared on Tuesday last week and was made after the number of dengue cases reached 406 with two fatalities since January 1 this year.
On Monday, Agbulos's office embarked on the second phase of its anti-dengue campaign covering seven of 13 villages tagged as dengue hotspots.
The remaining six villages were fumigated during the first phase of the campaign that started on Thursday last week. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
