Kris Aquino suffers miscarriage (6:24 p.m.)

MANILA -- Actress and television host Kris Aquino suffered a miscarriage on Tuesday, a day after announcing that her mother, former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino, was diagnosed with colon cancer.

Reports said Aquino was seven and a half weeks pregnant with her second child to cager James Yap. She was quoted, as saying that it could be divine will so that she could take care of her sick mother.

Meanwhile, Malacaņang said President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is praying for Kris's health.

Presidential Management Staff Cerge Remonde said: "The President prays for Kris, especially owing to the fact that she campaigned for her in the 2004 elections."

Deputy presidential spokesperson Lorelei Fajardo said the news of Kris's miscarriage was "a sad news."

"We extend our prayers to Kris and her lost child," Fajardo said.

Kris has a son, Joshua, with her former live-in-partner actor Philip Salvador. She also has a first son with Yap. (JMR/Sunnex)
