PNP starts exams, agility tests for applicants (1:45 p.m.)
MANILA -- About 3,700 applicants for lateral entry into the Philippine National Police (PNP) Officer Corps began taking a series of examinations and physical agility tests on Monday in three testing centers in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The 2008 Lateral Entry Program Competitive Examinations are held simultaneously at the Ramon Magsaysay High School in Cubao, Quezon City for Luzon applicants; Abellana National High School in Cebu City for Visayas applicants; and at the University of Southern Mindanao in Davao City for Mindanao applicants.
"The physical agility tests will start on Monday at Camp Crame in Quezon City (Luzon); Abellana Sports Complex in Cebu City (Visayas); and Camp Catitipan, Davao City (Mindanao)," said PNP spokesman Senior Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome.
"The applicants will be selected to fill up 1,669 vacant positions for line officers and technical service officers of the Philippine National Police," said Bartolome.
Edgardo Acuņa, director for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM), said the PNP is hiring 1,398 licensed criminologists to be assigned as line officers and 271 technical service officers from the different professional fields.
Acuņa said as of March 28, there were already 3,700 applications processed in addition to the pool of applications from the previous processing periods.
The competitive examination and physical agility tests are initial steps in the recruitment of Police Commissioned Officers thru lateral entry into the PNP.
The 1,398 line officers will be assigned in the different police regional offices and national support units with the initial rank of police inspector with a basic monthly salary of P16,667 and allowances.
Legal officers, medical officers, and chaplains will be appointed to the initial rank of police senior inspector with a basic monthly salary of P17,334 and other allowances. (VR/Sunnex) |
