Authorities on look out for 'sexy bombers'
By Ben O. Tesiorna

DAVAO CITY -- Police and military operatives are on the look out for lady bombers who are said to be the "flavor of the month" of terrorists planning to conduct bombings in buses, malls, churches and other public areas.

Arroyo Watch: Sun.Star blog on President Arroyo

Police Regional Office (PRO) Southern Mindanao director Andres Caro II said they are already aware of the terrorists' latest modus operandi in using sexy ladies as bomb couriers for them to easily pass through checkpoints.

Caro added that they have confirmed this latest move of terrorists in one of the bus bombing incidents where the suspect is a lady.

For this, he said, they are not exempting anyone from body and bag search.

He admitted that terrorists are now using the least suspicious methods to implement their terror plans.

In several bombing incidents recently, witnesses saw a lady leaving the site hurriedly shortly before the bomb exploded.

The use of lady bombers is not new in the series of terrorist attacks in different areas in the world. In some countries, the lady bombers are even suicidal.

Caro said the use of a suicidal bomber is, however, not yet happening in the Philippines. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
