Technical glitch disrupts filing of tax returns (3:55 p.m.)

MANILA -- The huge number of taxpayers filing their income taxes with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) resulted in the crashing of its computer system.

BIR Deputy Commissioner Nelson Aspe said the incident required taxpayers to resort to the manual method of filing their taxes.

There is still no set time as to when the system will be up and running but the deputy commissioner assured that this would not affect the pace of filing income tax returns.

The original April 15 deadline was moved to April 17. However, this is only applicable to those enrolled in the Electronic Filing and Payment System. (JLCP/Sunnex)
