Dr. Roque Anthony Paradela, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) chief of clinics, read the results of the investigation of their fact finding committee over the incident at past 10 a.m. Friday. VSMMC chief Dr. Gerardo Aquino was not present during the press conference.
"There are three doctors and one nurse involved. The committee recommended that an administrative case will be filed against the medical team present as there might be a possible violation of the provisions of Republic Act 6713," otherwise known as the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, the VSMMC statement said.
VSMMC spokesperson Dr. Emmanuel Gines refuses to reveal the identity of the doctors and nurse so as not to preempt the ongoing investigation of the Ombudsman and the Department of Health.

Other recommendations of the VSMMC fact finding committee are as follows:
* One doctor and three nurse supervisors were sternly warned and advised to be more cautious in the performance of their duties as supervisors,
* Clinical instructor and nurse trainees alluded to by the staff as the other persons who probably misbehaved in the operating room during the procedure should no longer be allowed to rotate VSMMC,
* Alleged student who was responsible for uploading the video in YouTube should be endorsed to the concerned school for disciplinary action, and
* The existing standard operating procedures of the operating room be reviewed, revised, and updated.
Gines meanwhile could not give any comment yet on possible suspension, saying they will wait for the decision of the VSMMC chief. He however admitted that they are running out of doctors.
Last January 3, a 39-year-old homosexual underwent a surgical operation to extract a perfume canister stuck in his anus during a sexual act.
A video footage of the surgery was posted in the video-sharing website YouTube. It has also been circulating through cell phones since then.
"As the surgical case was a rare and unusual case, they (VSMMC) understood the excitement and clapping but found these excessive and inappropriate," said Paradela.
According to Paradela, the VSMMC did not take the incident lightly. He further said they immediately created a committee to probe the incident even without the complaint.
Eleodoro Mongaya Jr. of the VSMMC Media Relations Committee said they are still waiting for the official complaint from the patient, saying they only based their investigations from newspaper reports.
"We cannot confirm the patient. We would like to ask help from the media and the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) to identify who posted the video in the YouTube. We also like to ask help to identify who inserted a canister into the patient," said Mongaya. (Sunnex)
