No rice shortage in Central Luzon
CANDABA -- "Definitely, there is no rice shortage in Central Luzon."
These were the exact words of 4th district Representative Ana York Bondoc-Sagum as she assured the public that the region, particularly Pampanga, is free from rice shortage.

Sagum said Manila is even relying on Central Luzon for its rice supply -- a proof of her statement that the region is not experiencing any shortage in as far as rice is concerned.
She also said the 4th district is one of the reasons why Pampanga has not experienced any shortage, compared to the situation in Metro Manila where people are obliged to fall in long lines to avail of rice provided by the government.
"Pampanga is currently No. 4 in terms of rice producers in Central Luzon," she said.
Earlier, Sagum inspected the rehabilitation of the Maasim dike, which according to her is responsible for the protection of four barangays in Candaba, the main producers of palay (rice grain) not only in the 4th district but also in the whole of Pampanga.
The P6-million project is aimed at protecting barangays Sto. Cristo, Pulong Gubat, Telapayong and Panclara, which have a total of almost 1,000 hectares of farmlands.
"These are funds from the National Government allocated through the intercession of Congressman Mikey Arroyo," Sagum said.
Sagum is also calling on the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) to support the farmers in the country, particularly those from Central Luzon. (Raymond C.
