Bunye: Group will be formed to review recommendations

MANILA -- Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said a technical working group would be formed to collate, review, and incorporate all recommendations during the meetings of the Economic Team study group, including those with representatives of Meralco and GSIS.

Bunye said the creation of the new group was reached during the meeting of the Economic Team study group led by Finance Secretary Margarito Teves with Meralco officials led by Francisco.

"The economic manager will be creating a technical working group to continue working on the different recommendations with a view of lowering the cost of electricity. It was a closed-door meeting between economic managers and Meralco representatives led by Mr. Chito Francisco. The TWG will be giving updates from time to time," he said.

He said the meeting between the economic team and Meralco is a follow-up to their meeting in Bacolod City last week. He said a separate meeting with GSIS led by Garcia had also been held.

Bunye said the latest meeting also proves that Meralco and the government are united in finding ways and means to reduce the cost of electricity. (Sunnex)
