3 more bodies discovered off Burias (11:12 a.m.)

MANILA -- THE Philippine Navy on Wednesday recovered three more bodies off Burias Island.

The three are believed to be passengers or crewmembers of the ill-fated MV Princess of the Stars that capsized off Sibuyan island in Romblon last Saturday.

Navy spokesman Edgard Arevalo said the three bodies, one of them appearing to be a foreigner, was retrieved by personnel of the Navy Patrol Ship 28 around 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Balana point in Burias Island on the information provided by a US aircraft.

A Navy rescue ship is at the general vicinity of Sibuyan Island, helping Filipino authorities in search and rescue and retrieval operations.

The Americans are employing its PC3 Orion surveillance aircraft to locate bodies and possible survivors.

Arevalo said two of the recovered bodies were Filipinos “but the other appeared to be a foreigner based on the color of his skin.” (VR/Sunnex)
