ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Troops from the Joint Task Force Comet (JTFC) have arrested an alleged Abu Sayyaf bandit suspected to be involved in the kidnapping of ABS-CBN news team and a peace advocate in the island province of Sulu.
The JTFC led by Major General Juancho Sabban reported that Jul Akram Hadjail was arrested Thursday in the vicinity of the airport in Jolo, the province's capital.

Hadjail, who has a P150,000 bounty for his arrest, was collared by troops from the 3rd Marine Brigade headed by Colonel Eugenio Clemen.
According to Clemen, the arrested suspect is a long time driver of the late Abu Sayyaf chieftain Khadafy Janjalani before he became the supply and liaison of bandits' leaders Radulan Sahiron and Jul Asbi Jalmaani.
Hadjail alias "Dodong" is facing multiple murder and frustrated murder cases in court, said Clemen.
The JTFC said Hadjail is suspected to be involved in the June 8 kidnapping of ABS-CBN senior reporter Ces Oreña-Drilon, her cameraman Jimmy Encarnacion, assistant cameraman Angelo Valderama, and peace advocate guide Professor Octavio Dinampo.
They were seized in Barangay Kulasi, Maimbung while on the way to conduct interviews for a special coverage.
Valderama was freed last June 12 while Drilon, Encarnacion, and Dinampo were released last June 17 by the Abu Sayyaf bandits.
Major General Sabban said troops tracking down the kidnappers have recovered three bodies of suspected bandits in Omar municipality while combing a forested area in the said town.
However, Omar town Mayor Hadji Ahmad Omar said the remains recovered by the troops does not belong to the Abu Sayyaf bandits.
The mayor added that there were only two bodies retrieved.
Omar identified the bodies as those belonging to civilians namely Albi Laki, a male, and Sitti Hassan, a female who died of sickness. He said Laki died last May 19 while Hassan passed away on April 23. (Sunnex)
