3 bodies of ferry disaster victims identified (3:06 p.m.)

CEBU CITY -- At least three bodies retrieved from the mv Princess of the Stars, which sank off Romblon waters last June 21, were already identified by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) forensic team.

Dr. Wilfredo Tierra, assistant team leader of the NBI forensic group, said Tuesday that two of the identified bodies were already released to their relatives last June 27. The third will be released Tuesday.

He said the bodies were identified through fingerprint and dental records provided by the victims' relatives.

He also said that they will start examining the 99 more bodies, which arrived Tuesday afternoon in Cebu City onboard mv Cagayan Princess. The bodies were brought to Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes in the city Tuesday.

Tierra asked relatives of the ferry victims to bring and present dental or fingerprint records of their dead kins to help speed up the identification process. (Sunnex)
