Coast Guard gets deadline for Princess probe (12:26 p.m.)

MANILA -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo set Tuesday a 15-day deadline for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to complete its investigation on the sinking of the mv Princess of the Stars on June 21.

The President wants a "full accounting" from the PCG concerning the events that led to the sea mishap.

The PCG was earlier ordered by President Arroyo to look into who was responsible for allowing the ship to depart from the port.

Vice President Noli de Castro meantime said authorities are investigating whether the captain of the ship Florencio Marimon is alive and in-hiding. (Sunnex)
