2 dead, 1 hurt in Sultan Kudarat landslide
KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Two villagers were killed and another was seriously injured after a landslide buried their house in Saripinang village in Bagumbayan in Sultan Kudarat, Wednesday night.
Superintendent Teng Mamalinta Tocao, provincial police director of Sultan Kudarat, said the two were reported missing Wednesday night.

On Thursday morning, Tacao said the bodies of the two villagers were recovered.
The other villager survived the landslide and was rushed to a nearby hospital in Poblacion.
Tocao has yet to identify the victims.
Heavy rains since Tuesday had caused the soil to loosen that triggered the landslide.
The house of the victims was destroyed by the landslide and two of the villagers were buried alive, Tocao said.
Rescue personnel, including the villagers and Tocao's men, had to dug through debris with their bare hands to retrieve the victims.
Meantime, about eight villages in nearby Lambayong town, also in Sultan Kudarat, were flooded since Wednesday night.
Thousands of villagers, according to Tocao, are still trapped in their homes due to heavy floods.
About 2,000 families from those villages rescued by the disaster teams were temporarily housed in three evacuation sites in Lambayong: Lambayong National High School; Lambayong Elementary School; and Lambayong municipal gym.
School officials in Lambayong had suspended classes in those villages affected by floods, Tocao added. (Malu C. Manar/Sunnex)
