Neri to head SSS (1:07 p.m.)
MANILA -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo reportedly appointed Commission on Higher Education (Ched) chairman Romuli Neri as the new Social Security System (SSS) president, replacing Corazon de la Paz.
Neri is a key witness to the controversial national broadband network (NBN)-ZTE deal.
Prior to heading the Ched, he was the director general of the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda).
Neri's new appointment, however, has not yet been confirmed, as Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita will still make a formal announcement on Wednesday afternoon.
It is not yet clear as to whether Neri will hold his post in Ched, or if he already has a replacement. (Sunnex) |
