Gov't, MILF unite in helping Frank victims (9:35 a.m.)

MANILA -- Government troops and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) joined hands in distributing 15,000 kilos of rice to over 500 families affected by the recent Typhoon Frank.

The relief mission dubbed as "Tabang Guligaw" (Disaster Assistance), was spearheaded by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process
(Opapp) under Secretary Hermogenes Esperon Jr., in coordination with the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) and Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

The Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA), the MILF's development arm, assisted in the distribution in Barangay Biniruan, Poblacion 9 over the weekend.

Al Ihsan Foundation Incorporation, a non-government organization (NGO), conducted a survey and validated the names of the beneficiaries to ensure that only the victims of the typhoon receive the relief goods. (VR/Sunnex)
