Gov't gives 24-hr deadline for MILF to vacate areas (11:03 a.m.)
DEPARTMENT of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Ronaldo Puno on Thursday announced that the government is giving groups, reportedly elements of the Moro Islamic Liberation (MILF), to vacate areas they forcibly occupied or face attack.
In a meeting, the government imposed the 24-hr deadline "otherwise they will be forcibly separated from the area."
Puno said they could not allow these things to happen.
"After this 24-hour period, we shall consider ourselves in compliance with all of the obligations on the ceasefire agreements in place, the peace process that is ongoing will be therefore entitled and authorized to undertake whatever action is necessary," he said. (Sunnex) |
