Armm poll winners proclaimed
MANILA -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Wednesday proclaimed incumbent Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) Governor Zaldy Puti Uy Ampatuan as the winning candidate in the just concluded Armm elections.
Ampatuan got the most number of votes, 693,000 or 91.9 percent of the actual voters as against his rival, Alvarez Silal Isnaji, who only got 17,973 or 2.38 percent.

Other contenders for the gubernatorial position are: Ali Jumadil Omar, 15,433 votes; Guimid Panalangin Matalam, 10,019; Jupakar Pindah-Asia Arabani, 9,950; Ismail Berto Ibrahim, 5,505; and Ahmad Darping Nooh, 1,625.
The reelected governor expressed gratitude to his supporters for giving him another chance to serve as the head of the region.
For the vice gubernatorial race, reelectionist Ansaruddin-Abdul Malik Alonto Adiong was declared as the winner after garnering 91.80 percent or 668,175 of the total number of votes cast.
Adiong's rivals for the position only got nominal votes. They are Kadra Asani with 23,688 votes or 3.25 percent; Kursid Hajirie Sampang, 19,068 or 2.62 percent; and Ailani Jr. Tan Susulan, 16.923 or 2.32 percent.
The Armm voters, aside from selecting the top two officials of the region, also voted for three assemblymen in each district.
The region has eight districts: two in Lanao del Sur, two in Sulu and one each for Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao, Basilan, and Shariff Kabunsuan.
The proclaimed members of the Regional Legislative Assembly are:
* Jeha Adiong, Samer Salic, and Suhaylah Salic for the 1st district of Lanao del Sur;
* Rasmia Salic, Yasser Balindong, and Alexander Menor for 2nd district of Lanao del Sur;
* Roonie Sinsuat, Cahar Ibay, and Abdulradzak Tomawis for Shariff Kabunsuan;
* Rejie Sahali, Mustapha Omar, and Nur-Mahadil Ahaja for Tawi-Tawi;
* Umbrah Datumanong, Khadafeh Mangudadatu, and Pike Mentang for Maguindanao;
* Rajam Akbar, Nasser Asarul, and Juhan Hataman for Basilan;
* Nivocadnezar Tulawie, Rizal Tingkahan Jr., Nahil Maldisa for 1st District of Sulu; and
* Benshar Estino, Nashuper Daud, and Abdel Anni for 2nd District of Sulu.
The Armm electoral exercise, the first automated polls in the country, was held last Monday, August 11. Authorities described the Armm elections as generally peaceful and orderly. (FP/MSN/Sunnex)
