MILF chief calls for halt to fighting (1:09 p.m.)
MANILA -- Moro Islamic Liberation Front chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim has called a stop to the attacks by their group in Mindanao.
Murad ordered Commander Bravo and Commander Ameril Umbra Kato to put to a halt their attacks on the provinces of North Cotabato, Saranggani and Lanao del Sur, which reportedly were due to the thwarted signing of memorandum of agreement on the ancestral domain.
The MILF chief expressed sadness over the situation, saying they have remained true to the peace process and they “hold its supremacy”.
However, Murad is also hopeful and optimistic that the situation and the peace process can be saved and that there will eventually be cooperation. |
