Yano upholds Metro red alert status (10:39 a.m.)
MANILA -- Armed Forces chief Alexander Yano defended the red alert level raised in Metro Manila which they stressed is necessary in anticipation of possible spill over attacks.
Puno and Razon said the red alert status would also enable the deployment of additional police and military in the metropolis as they believe that police visibility would help deter commission of illegal activities and assure the public.
Razon also assured Muslims in Metro Manila that they would not be persecuted and their rights respected. He stressed that they too are “citizens of the community that we vowed to serve and protect”.
Teodoro urged the public to, with or without the red alert status, report to authorities any suspected illegal activities or persons in their area.
He also announced that he and Social Welfare Secretary Esperanza Cabral would be flying to Lanao del Norte Wednesday to personally assess and check on the conditions of the residents and infrastructure in the affected areas. (ECV/Sunnex) |
