Lotto operator in Dumaguete shot dead (8:50 p.m.)
DUMAGUETE CITY -- A controversial lotto operator was shot dead while driving her car Friday afternoon, police reports said.
The police identified the victim as Teresita Zamora. Her name was among those lotto operators who were forced to leave Dumaguete City few years ago.
Zamora was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen who were riding in a color blue Honda Wave motorcycle around 5 p.m. Friday while driving along Barangay Batinguel, Dumaguete City.
Police said the hitmen used a 9mm caliber pistol in shooting Zamora. The victim succumbed to a gunshot wound in her head, causing her instantaneous death.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim came from Dumaguete City when waylaid by the gunmen at the overflow of Barangay Batinguel.
Police said Zamora was able to pull her car back when shot by the hitmen who were wearing a bonnet.
As of this writing Friday, the police are still conducting investigation to identify the suspects and the motive behind the killing. (VR/Sunnex)
