Palace bows out on MOA-AD (1:32 p.m.)
MANILA -- Malacaņang has resolved to cancel its draft agreement for the settling of the ancestral domain issue with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), even if the pact was considered constitutional by the Supreme Court.
Solicitor General Agnes Devanadera, in the continuation of the oral arguments announced that the government will not anymore sign the memorandum of agreement (MOA), after receiving a letter from the Palace which said they will no longer pursue the pact, regardless of the SC's stand.
The Palace's decision was confirmed when Devanadera phoned Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, who said they will not sign the deal "in present form or in any form." (Sunnex) |
