VSMMC doctor: Laughter in surgery room a 'flaw in the protocol' (11:29 a.m.)
DR. Anthony Paradela of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center said the laughter which took place in the operation known as the Black Suede scandal was a “flaw in protocol” of the hospital management.
This was admitted by the medical practitioner in a hearing with the committee on human rights by the House of Representatives.
“The excessive laughter, that's already a very clear flaw in the protocol. In fact, after I saw it on YouTube...when I saw (the video) in the YouTube, I was surprised how come there was excessive laughter. That is not a general rule in our operations,” Paradela said.
“That's why I noted right away, even without the complaint, that there was something wrong, so there's really a flaw in our protocol,” he added.
He also disclosed that he issued a hospital memorandum at that time, reminding surgeons that laughter and phones are prohibited in the operating room. (Sunnex) |
