Slay plot vs N. Cotabato vice guv confirmed
DAVAO CITY -- An intelligence information confirmed Wednesday the alleged assassination plot against North Cotabato Vice Governor Emmanuel Piñol.
A statement released by the North Cotabato Public Information Office (PIO) showed that the special operations group of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is planning the assassination plot against the vice governor.

The Moro rebel group is also planning other terrorist activities once the Ramadan celebration is over.
According to the provincial office, they learned about the plot from "reliable sources in the intelligence community who said they have information that the MILF special operations group is planning to do something explosive."
"Vice Governor Piñol is a top assassination target and all indicators are there to prove this," the PIO quoted a well-placed intelligence source as saying.
"There is definitely a motive, and Vice Governor Piñol himself has said that he has been receiving persistent threats through text messages being sent to him," the statement added.
Piñol earlier announced the assassination plot against him during the 56th regular session of the Provincial Board (PB) this month.
He said he has reliable intelligence information that at least 11 assassination teams have been organized to get him at all cost.
He said the assassination plot was hatched by people whose expected financial and political bonanzas got busted with his move to stop the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD) between the Philippine government and the MILF.
Piñol was the first to file a petition before the Supreme Court (SC) for the issuance of a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the signing of the MOA-AD. The National Government has since said that they are scrapping the proposed deal.
The threat, Piñol said, is not only against him.
"Even my innocent children are not spared from these threats directly relayed to me through emails and text messages," he said.
Intelligence sources have already advised Piñol to take the necessary precautions.
According to intelligence reports, the people behind the plot have to be denied the opportunity to carry out their plans.
The intelligence sources also advised everyone to be continuously vigilant against all threats, such as bombings and other terrorist attacks.
In a text message, however, MILF military spokesman Eid Kabalu branded the claim of Piñol as mere "invention". (BOT/With PR/Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
