Japanese man killed in gunfire incident (12:51 p.m.)

MANILA -- A Japanese national was shot dead while three others including his live-in-partner were injured in a shooting incident in an upscale bar in Makati city before dawn Friday.

Makati police criminal investigation division chief Manuel Santos identified the fatality as Takahiro Asano, 42 who died after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds at his face and head.

The fatality was temporarily residing at Room 403 Royal Regent Condominium in Barangay Palanan, this city.

Santos identified Asano’s wounded companion as his live-in-partner, Agnes Macatangay Rinon, 27, Ruel Banares, 41, and a resident of 118, B-Purok 3, Silverio Compound, Paranaque city and Jaine Antonio Beech, 38 of Matanza street, Makati.

Initial investigation conducted by Police Officer (PO) 3 Nilo Sadsad of the Makati police station investigation and detective management bureau showed that the victims were sitting inside the Locked Up Resto Bar located at the corner of Filmore and Java streets in Palanan at around 11:15 p.m. Thursday when the unidentified gunman drew a 9 millimeter pistol and started firing at the unsuspecting victims.
