3 soldiers hurt in landmine incident (11:21 a.m.)
THREE Army soldiers were wounded following a landmine attack while passing along Sitio Kapihan, Barangay Conception, Valencia City, Bukidnon, the military reported Monday. The wounded personnel were identified as Privates
First Class Cumahig, Variacion, and Velasco, all members of the Army’s 29th Infantry Battalion led by 1st Lieutenant Dulawan and 2nd Lieutenant Plete.
Army spokesman Lt. Col. Romeo Brawner said the troops were onboard a KM 450 4x4 truck and an Isuzu Elf passing along the said area around 3 p.m. Saturday when a landmine planted along the road exploded. The wounded personnel were immediately extricated from the ambush area while the remaining troops engaged in a five-minute fire with the undetermined number of New People’s Army (NPA) terrorists, allegedly members of the Front Committee 6 under an unknown leader.
