Another milk product positive for melamine
MANILA -- (Updated 12:08 p.m.) Jolly Cow Slender High Calcium Low Fat Milk from China has been found to be tainted with melamine, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III announced Wednesday.
In the same press conference, Duque also presented a list of 21 milk products cleared of melamine.

Duque said Jolly Cow Slender has to be withdrawn from stores and establishments.
He added that since products from China are covered by the ban, the Jolly Cow Slender milk product should not have been sold in the first place.
Duque, reading from the information on the Jolly Cow product box, said the milk is imported from China and its local distributor is Fly Ace Corporation.
Laboratory tests conducted by the Bureau of Food and Drugs (Bfad) showed the concentration of melamine in the milk product at four parts per million.
A DOH official said this is high because melamine by law is not allowed as a food additive.
Melamine, a toxic industrial chemical that can cause kidney failure, is reportedly high in nitrogen and has no nutritional value. It has been used to enhance the protein level of watered-down milk products from China.
Earlier, a list released by DOH of melamine-free milk products included Jolly Cow pure fresh milk.
On the other hand, two other products, Greenfood Yili Fresh Milk and Mengniu Drinks, have been tested positive of melamine last week.
The DOH also came out Wednesday with advertisements in national newspapers listing 22 brands of infant milk powder that tested positive for melamine.
