Truck plunges off Oro cliff, 2 die
CAGAYAN DE ORO -- Two City Hall employees were killed Friday after the dump truck they were riding in fell off a cliff in a hinterland village, this city.
Authorities identified the victims as Zaldy Ucang and Apolinario Delos Reyes, both working as backhoe operator and dump truck driver at the City Engineer's Office (CEO).

According to reports, the government-owned dump truck was fully loaded with limestone. Delos Reyes was manning it, heading downhill in Barangay Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City when it suddenly lost its brake.
Engineer Goldmar Mabulay of the CEO said an electric post and a mango tree were hit by the dump truck.
"The vehicle first hit an electric post then lunged to a mango tree, which got uprooted and fell with the dump truck down the cliff," Mabulay said.
Both Ucang and Delos Reyes died instantly in the resulting impact, he added.
Mabulay also said that it took almost an hour for the rescue team to retrieve the bodies.
"The ravine was covered with bush and was too deep to penetrate," he said, adding that the rescuers even found it difficult to recognize the dump truck.
Mabulay said the City Government will assist the family of the two victims in shouldering the burial expenses.
"The City Government will shoulder the burial expenses since they died in the line of duty," Mabulay said. (ALR/Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro/Sunnex)
