12 more kids confined for stale goodies
BAGUIO CITY -- Twelve more kids were admitted to the Mankayan municipal health office in Benguet province for severe abdominal pains.
Dr. Faviola Gabriel, municipal health officer, said nine children were confined again at the municipal clinic Wednesday, while three others were re-admitted Friday after complaining of stomach pains.

Gabriel said the kids again consumed candies. "But the candies were bought from stores and not those dumped under the Tabbac bridge in Barangay Sapid."
She, however, assured that the schoolchildren were not in serious condition.
The local government has already advised groceries and retail stores to pull out stocks similar to the candies and other goodies that poisoned 115 pupils at the Palatong Elementary School in Mankayan town.
Mankayan Police Chief Fernando Botangen said his office is continuously monitoring business establishments to ensure that the items, which were ordered to be pulled out from stores, are not sold.
Stores at the villages of Poblacion and Guinaoang were given the list of the manufacturers of the candies and snack items that downed a hundred pupils, said Botangen.
Police have no lead yet on who dumped the 11 sacks of snack items in the village.
Botangen said they tried but failed to contact the manufacturers of the commodities.
Earlier, the police identified the candy manufacturers of the dumped snack items as LOI-LOI, a manufacturer of powdered candies and lollipop; Kuoshen Sweets Corporation; Altech Packaging Corp.; Regent Food Corp; Malabon Candy co. Inc.; Standard Food Industries and Yinhai Food Corp (from Shantou, Guandong, China).
Also included in the list were Colombia International Food Products and Noritts Corp. Both are chewing gum producers.
Two wafer manufacturers -- Regent Food Corp. and Pure Snack Food House -- were likewise among the companies named.
For the junk foods, listed were Pure Snack Food Corporation, PRIFOOD Corporation, AYA Manufacturing, AYA Food Manufacturing, ASY Food Corporation, Kulit Snack Food Co., Liwayway Food Corp., Intercor Food Products and Jovi's Food Products. (Jane Cadalig/Sun.Star Baguio/Sunnex)
