SAN FERNANDO -- Pampanga ABC Federation President Board Member Mark Lapid Monday announced that the slated convention of all barangay officials in the province will be held in Subic Bay, Olongapo City this June 27, 28 and 29.

The board member said that hundreds of barangay officials from the 504 barangays of Pampanga are already set for the convention that will be graced by Interior and Local Government Secretary Joey Lina.

"Actually, by June 26, the barangay captains will meet at the Capitol to pool their registration fees for the convention which is P1,500 per barangay. There will also be a briefing on the preparations for the convention," Lapid said.

Lapid said the members of Pampanga ABC Federation are expecting to learn much from the three-day seminar, particularly in local governance and peace and order strategies.

"We thank the DILG for scheduling this seminar for us. It is really a big help for our Kabalens. There is an urgent need to educate our barangay further in maintaining peace and order and implementing the LGUs mandate for local autonomy, especially in generating taxes and revenues," Lapid said.

Meanwhile, Lapid will visit Barangay San Nicolas in San Luis Tuesday where residents will hold a fluvial parade in celebration of the feast of Saint Nicholas.

He was also invited to be the event's guest of honor as he is expected to join the parade along the Pampanga River.
