BFAR-FRMP story writing, painting competition on By Albert B. Lacanlale
SAN FERNANDO -- The Fisheries Resource Management Project (FRMP) of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) will hold a story writing and painting competition in celebration of the Fish Conservation week observed from October 19.
The short-story writing competition dubbed as "Mga Kwentong Dagat" is open to all bonafide college students. Stories submitted in this category, limited to 4,000 words, should be written in Filipino, and were neither published nor have won any award.
Stories in English and other regional dialects may also be submitted provided that they are accompanied by a translation in Filipino.
The first prize winner will receive P7,000 and a certificate of recognition.
"Kathang Karagatan," on the other hand, is the title of the painting contest on the conservation of the country's aquatic resources. Bonafide college students are also welcome to join this contest.
The participants may use any of the following media: watercolor, oil acrylic, poster color, pastel or craypas. The canvas to be used should be 18" X 26".
The art works should exude this year's Fish Conservation theme "Pangisdaan ay Kayamanan, dapat Pangalagaan." Cash award of P15,000 and a trophy await the first prize winner.
The last day of submission of entries is on October 10 at the FRMP Office, 2/F Estar Bldg. 860 Queen Ave. Quezon City.
