Lapid denies giving way to Bombing Nepomuceno
By Rhay G. Navales

PAMPANGA Gov. Manuel "Lito" Lapid Monday flatly denied that he would give way to Cut-Cut barangay captain Robin "Bombing" Nepomuceno in the mayoralty race in Angeles City next year.

"Ala ku pang sinabing makanyan (I did not say that)," Lapid said when asked about rumors that he would give way to Bombing.

Lapid said he already registered and is currently residing in Angeles City in preparation for his mayoralty bid in the 2004 elections.

Earlier, some quarters are saying that Lapid could not say no to "Bombing," the latter being his "kinakapatid (godbrother)."

Lapid is a godson of Bombing's father, the late Gov. Francisco "Quitong" Nepomuceno.

The patriarch of the Nepomuceno clan and former governor reportedly told Lapid shortly before he died not to abandon his sons, Bombing and
Blueboy.

Bombing, incumbent village chief of Barangay Cut-cut, is running for the mayorship of Angeles City against Lapid who, earlier, transferred his election records from Porac to Angeles City.

There are rumors that the governor is "softening up" and has decided to give way to his kinakapatid amid survey results which show that he was on the list of the top five Senate "winnables."

Provincial Administrator Benalfre J. Galang, a close aide of Lapid, meanwhile, disclosed that Lapid is now considering running as senator under his party.
