Man found dead in sugarcane field
By Ria Isidro-de Fiesta

SAN FERNANDO -- Residents of Barangay Malino got the shock of their lives last Christmas Day when they found the body of a man in his mid-30s sprawled along a sugarcane plantation here.

Police later identified the fatality as Arnold Ranada, a native of Ronrono, Quezon in Nueva Vizcaya.

Police who responded to the scene said Ranada sustained three stab wounds and one head injury.

The plantation owner, identified as Orlando Solpita, could not be reached for comment.

Police said that Ranada may have been a salvage victim, as evident with his wounds and the location where his body was taken.

Police said they are in the process of questioning the residents in the said area where the body was found, and will be conducting follow-up operations for the possible identification of the suspect or suspects behind the killing.
