A father, in every sense of the word
By Sarah Joy R. Gutierrez

HE WOULD seem an extraordinary person to most people as he has rendered public service for more than a decade and holds the stature of being a successful businessman in the province.

Extraordinary as he may seem, though, Board Member-elect Ceferino "Pinong" Laus is like any ordinary man - a good husband to his wife Monina, a loving father to his children, and a good provider to his family.

Coming from a poor family, Tang Pinong strived hard to be where he is today. He struggled much in life during the years he had to sell kamote to support his education and to maintain a small poultry business.

Although he failed to attend college for lack of money, what pulled Tang Pinong through during these times were the virtues his father imparted in him - patience and a positive outlook in life.

Tang Pinong, the good father that he is, chose to spend Father's Day with his family - Ma'am Monz, daughters Charo, Czara and Czarmaigne and sons Gino and and Carlo.

Although he is known for his performance in politics and business, Tang Pinong takes his role as a loving and generous father to his family seriously. Described as very charismatic and helpful in nature, Tang Pinong also shows thoughtfulness and unconditional love for his children.

"When his children were little, siya ang nagtitimpla ng gatas nila. When the children got sick, he couldn't stay put. And when it came to the kids' education, he had very big plans for them, as he wants the best for them," his wife, Monz, said.

All his struggles and successes in life boils down to the kind of man - and father - he is. He may be strict at times, but he is nevertheless consistent in giving his children much-needed space. Although an active public servant, he still takes pleasure in nurturing a family. Truly, Tang Pinong exemplifies what a "father", in every sense of the word, is.
