CDC, NCMB ink pact to promote industrial peace in Clark

CLARK -- The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) and National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) have signed an agreement that would promote industrial peace, and elevate the standard of employment inside Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ).

The Memorandum of Agreement was signed by CDC President Emmanuel Y. Angeles and NCMB Acting Executive Director Romeo Young. It aims to enhance industrial peace and harmony to make Clark an attractive investment site, and at the same time, ensure the productivity of the workers and make them effective in their respective work areas.

The agreement also promotes labor standards, genuine labor and management cooperation, conduct of regular dialogues with employers and their employees, and set up of formal grievance systems with the participation of employee representatives.

Another feature of the agreement is the adoption of proactive and progressive industrial relations and human resources management practices as the foundation of more productive enterprises and the availment of conciliation and mediation services.

It will also recognize the non-confrontational means of settling differences as the best instruments for harmonizing labor and management relationship to enhance the existing industrial peace and productivity inside the economic zone.
Aside from the conciliation and promotion of the employer-employee relations, the NCMB, in coordination with CDC, will also provide immediate and conciliation services to facilitate the amicable settlement of labor disputes.

CDC and NCMB will also undertake training and orientation activities for employers and workers on voluntary modes of labor dispute prevention and settlement while the labor body will also provide assistance in terms of trainings, seminar modules and designs, resource persons and other technical support.
