Premier Cars BMW's golf tourney held at Mimosa

CLARK ECOZONE -- More than a hundred amateur golfers from Pampanga and Metro Manila joined the Pampanga Premier Cars BMW's golf qualifying tournament last Tuesday at the Mimosa Golf and Country Club, Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ).

Golfers - both in the men and women's category tried to outdo each other for a chance to represent the country in the prestigious BMW Golf Cup National and International finals.

Paul Laus, managing director of Pampanga Premier Cars BMW, said the BMW Golf Cup International was first held in the Philippines in 2001 and is the largest amateur golf competition in the world with over 150,000 players from 35 countries.

Laus said winners of the qualifying tournament are entitled to join the National Finals on October 6, 2004. The Philippine National Finals winners shall then represent BMW Philippines in the coveted World Finals in Sydney, Australia this coming November.

He said the Pampanga Premier Cars BMW's qualifying tournament was a "huge success."

The format of this year's play is Stableford against par over 18 holes.
The participants were all required to submit their latest handicap index certificate issued from their home golf clubs, as stated in the BMW Golf Cup International Guidelines and Regulations.

In the women's tournament, San Luis Vice Mayor Fely Bondoc-Concepcion showed her accuracy and long drive excellence to capture the title and a chance to join the national finals and possible the world finals as well.

Other prominent figures who joined the tournament were Gov. Mark T. Lapid, Provincial Engr. Jay Macatuno, PDCC executive director Andy Austria, Board Member Johnny "JQ" Quiambao, Mark Cruz, businessman Allan David, Lawyer Nick Sagmit, Mabalacat Vice Mayor Cris Garbo, former Porac vice mayor Rey Lapid and many more.
