Observance of All Saints' Day generally peaceful: Espina By Rhay G. Navales
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The observance of All Saints' Day in the province was generally peaceful.
Senior Supt. Leonardo Espina, provincial police director, said the peaceful commemoration of the event is a result of rigid preparations of the provincial police office (PPO).
According to Espina, he instructed police chiefs in the province to anticipate the volume of traffic and the security of cemeteries and residences in their respective jurisdictions.
He said policemen were able to confiscate deadly weapons, liquors, and playing cards from several persons during the All Saints' Day.
He added that motorists' assistance centers were established in strategic points all over the province.
Espina also cited the arrest of suspected members of a robbery group - 'Dre Ko To Gang - by the City of San Fernando police on Sunday. The group is believed to be responsible for a series of bank robberies and carnapping in Bataan, Olongapo and Pampanga.
Suspects Larry Barroga, Jerry Laban, Melencio Dayag, and Nelson Respicio were arrested in Essel Park Subdivision. Police confiscated from them two unlicensed firearms.
The PPO has been on red alert from October 29 until Tuesday and implemented Oplan Kaluluwa and Lakbay-Alalay, it was learned.
