Woman slain in Mexico
By Chris Navarro

* Police believe woman was raped before killed
* Indications found that victim fought her attackers

MEXICO -- The body of a woman, believed to be a guest relations officer (GRO), was found in a secluded grassy area by residents of Barangay Panipuan here Thursday morning.

SPO4 Jesus Tayag, case investigator, said the victim - still unidentified - may have been raped and killed by her attacker or attackers.

Tayag said they are still following up leads to establish the identity of the victim and the suspects.

Tayag described the woman to be in her mid 20s, wearing faded maong pants, black sandals, a sleeveless blouse, gold-plated bracelet, fake pearl earrings, black bra and violet underwear.

Inspector Ricardo G. Laming, head of Scene of the Crime Operation (Soco) investigators, said they are still determining the cause of the woman's death as of presstime.

But based on their initial investigation, Laming said there is a strong possibility that the woman was raped before being killed by the suspect or suspects.

He added that the victim also bore teeth marks and scratches on the neck and that a blunt or hard object was inserted in her mouth and skull.

Laming said there are also indications that the young woman fought her attackers, saying that the SOCO team - PO3 Leo Gonez, PO3 Alexhandro Agsalda and PO2 Joel Bagaoisan - have collected skin from the nails of the victim.

Police are still searching for clues and have not discounted the possibility that the rapists were under the influence of illegal drugs when they committed the crime.
