San Fernando police office posts high crime solution rate
By Chris Navarro

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The city police office here has remarkably registered a high 96.30 percent crime solution efficiency (CSE) and average monthly crime rate (AMCR) of 5.57 percent from January 3 to February 23 of this year.

Superintendent Nicanor Targa, city police chief, said among the 27 recorded crime volume, 26 cases were already solved by his office.

Targa said he attributes the low crime rate and high crime solution efficiency to the "Pulis sa Barangay" program.

Targa added that through the support of Mayor Oscar S. Rodriguez, the police were able to lower the crime rate here, citing that in January to February 2004 they only registered an 80-percent CSE compared to the 96.30 percent CSE in January to February of 2005.

Targa also cited that among the many accomplishments of the city police are the foiled attempted robbery at the Banco de Oro in SM City; the neutralization of the dreaded "Adreko Group", an alleged robbery-hold-up gang, among others.

The comparative crime statistics from January 3 to February 23 showed that Targa's office only registed one murder case, no homicide or parracide cases, one robbery case, two rape cases, seven theft cases, two carnapping cases, three illegal drugs cases, no illegal gambling case, one illegal possession of firearms case, two physical injuries cases, six traffic accidents and two other cases.
