Norwegian nabbed for pedophilia By Dante M. Fabian
ANGELES CITY -- A Norwegian tourist in this city is now being charged of "pedophilia" after elements of the Angeles City Police Office found out that the he had sex with a 16-year old girl in Barangay Balibago here.
The tourist, identified as Arild Heberget, 53, a Norwegian national, was arrested after the police received a call from an informant reporting that a male Caucasian brought a suspected minor to his room on the second floor of the Black Jack Hotel and Bar. The hotel is located along Real Street in the Balibago area, popularly known as the city's "red light district."
Chief Inspector Lorenzo Detran, Station 4 chief, in his report to Senior Superintendent Policarpio Segubre, Angeles City Police Office (Acpo) director, said policemen led by SPO4 Angelo Alicante, Compac 41 chief, immediately went to the Black Jack Hotel and caught the half-naked Heberget having a show with the victim, who was also naked.
Police brought the suspect and the victim at Station 4 for further investigation.
"Anna" (real name withheld for privacy) said the suspect refused to pay her after having sex with him.
The 16-year-old girl said she met Heberget earlier that afternoon when he came up to her at the Vian Lodge.
She related that Heberget invited her to his hotel room and promised to pay her P3,000 for her services but Heberget refused to give her the fee after her sexual services.
Anna also revealed that she was employed as a dancer at the Camelot bar located along Fields Avenue.
She said the bar's management hired her after she declared that she was already 18 years old.
"Sa birth certificate ko po ay 16 pa lang ako pero sa Camelot bar ay 18 nako dahil bawal po kasi kapag hindi pa 18 (In my birth certificate, I am only 16 but in Camelot bar I claim I am 18 because it is prohibited for minors like me to work there)," she said.
Anna said she has been working as a dancer for less than a year and the bar requires them to leave their IDs to their floor supervisors after their work.
Ordinance 106, series of 2000 or the city's AIDS prevention and control ordinance states that hiring of minors on entertainment establishments is strictly prohibited. Violators shall be subject to closure.
Detran reported to Segubre that Heberget will be charged for child abuse, under Republic Act 7610.
