New school rises in Sta. Ana By Albert B. Lacanlale
WHILE most schools in the country opened their doors for the first day of classes Monday, a new school officially opened business in the town of Sta. Ana.
The Saint Mary's Angels College of Pampanga (SMACP) was inaugurated in Barangay San Pedro here with Pampanga Third District Representative Rey B. Aquino, Mexico Mayor Teddy C. Tumang, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo "Tarzan" Lazatin, Sta. Ana Mayor Francisco "Doy" Gaddi and other government officials as guests.
SMACP is owned by spouses Damian and Susan Ramos of Sto. Domingo, Mexico who also founded the Saint Mary's Angels School of Valenzuela in 1995.
After 10 years since establishing the Valenzuela campus, the Ramos family decided to extend its legacy to their home-province of Pampanga.
Damian, who also owns the Hilmarc's Construction, Inc. and the Gigster Bar, said the school is the product of his vision of establishing a respectable integrated school in Pampanga.
He said he wanted the residents of Sta. Ana, Mexico, Arayat, San Luis and other nearby towns to gain access to quality education in a short-distance travel - a privilege he said he did not have when he was young.
SMACP aims to offer good, accessible and quality education to residents of Central Luzon by providing state-of-the-art facilities, safe and secure environment, qualified and competent faculty and staff.
In the coming school year, SMACP offers pre-school education for Toddler, Nursery, Kindergarten and Preparatory; Grades I to IV; First and Second Year for High School; and college courses like Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Secondary Education with Majors in Math, Science and English; BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management; BS Civil Engineering and a two-year course in Association in Computer Technology.
SMACP also provides a 100-percent tuition grant for students who graduated valedictorians; 75 percent for salutatorians and 50 percent for the Top 5 students in batch of at least 100 students.
A Presidential Scholarship, which grants a 100-percent discount in semestral tuition, will be provided for students who obtain an average grade not lower than 1.20. A Vice Presidential Scholarship, with 50-percent tuition grant, will be afforded students with an average grade of at least 1.50.
