Rescue operation for Air Force major launched
CAMP OLIVAS -- Operatives of the Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) launched Wednesday a Central Luzon-wide monitoring to track down the whereabouts of Air Force Major Neptune Eliquin, who was abducted by suspected New People's Army (NPA) rebels last Saturday.
Police said Eliquin was abducted by 30 armed men at the foot of Susong Dalaga in Sitio Uno, Malinta in Mawacat here.
Nolcom Chief Romeo Dominguez said that operatives have been deployed to the area where Eliquin was snatched by the NPA rebels.
Lieutenant General Dominguez also said they have contacted some witnesses to the abduction, even as he added that Nolcom authorities already have taken over the responsibility for Eliquin's rescue.
Since Wednesday, members of the Nolcom have been gathering information from residents in the area where Eliquin could have been taken.
Domiguez said there have been no contact from the Eliquin's abductors as to their motive, or if any ransom is involved.
A report said that Eliquin might have been kept by his abductors in a mountainous area in Zambales, but Dominguez did not confirm the report, saying that it might jeopardize the rescue operation.
Earlier, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) said the recent abduction of Eliquin may have something to do with the prevention of the government's development projects.(MHD)
