Group is back with new album
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Home-grown artist group ArtiSta.Rita, who made famous the revival of almost-extinct Kapampangan songs, is back with a new album.
The artists group, composed of a bunch of local talents from Sta. Rita, will launch its second album "Pamanuli" at the San Guillermo Church in Bacolor town Saturday.
The new album, carrying 14 Kapampangan songs, came two years after the successful launch of ArtiSta.Rita's first album "Kapampangan Ku," which has brought to fore the carrier-single, with the same title, being played in various gatherings.
With several original Kapampangan folk songs like "Kokak," a song about adventures of frogs in Pampanga; "O Caca, O Caca," a rousing choral piece; "Duman," theme song of the annual Duman Festival in Sta. Rita town; "O Patag a Bunduc," a folk song given a new twist; "Berya," "Dalagang Kapampangan," "Dalagang Ritena," "Pasku," "Eca Mamaco," and "Sintang Matua," the new album features the carrier-single "Pamanuli" and "Pinatubu," original compositions of Most Outstanding Kapampangan 2004 awardee Andy Alviz.
Coincidental or otherwise, Bacolor fits as a venue of the launching, as "Pamanuli" heralds the call for all Kapampangans to find their way home. The town has been calling for its residents to return home after being driven away by lahar several years ago.
ArtiSta.Rita was founded in 2001 by a group led by Alviz, an internationally-acclaimed artist and Miss Saigon Asia resident choreographer. (ABL)
