City to mark 3rd Sisig Festival
By Reynaldo G. Navales

ANGELES CITY -- As early as now, the Sisig Festival committee is busy preparing various activities, which will be featured during the Sisig Festival 2005 slated on December 2 and 3.

The festival, dubbed as "176 Ways of Cooking Sisig", will coincide with the 176th anniversary of Angeles City.

City information officer IC Calaguas said the committee has lined up during the two-day affair a motorcade, air and land show, body painting competition, dance showdown, awarding of Outstanding Angeleños, live band exhibition, and entertainment shows featuring artists.

A bike show, street dancing competition, cultural presentations, and grand fireworks display will also be featured during the second day of the affair.

The coronation of the Mutya Ning Angeles 2005, on the other hand, will be held on December 8.

Calaguas said the beauty contest will showcase the unique beauty and talent of the Angeleñas.

"We had prepared many and new activities that the viewers would like to see. We'll do our best to surpass the overwhelming success of the last year's festival," she said.

Calaguas said that instead of cooking a thousand kilos of sisig, the committee will introduce 176 ways of cooking the delicacy.

"Since this is the first time that the City would be doing this, we will be sending letters to restaurant owners here to ask for their assistance with various ways of cooking sisig," she said.

Trade and Investment Promotions Office (Tipo) coordinator Mina Cabiles, meanwhile, encourages talented dancers and artists to join the dance and body painting competitions.

Cabiles said that the entry forms and requirements in the competitions are available at the Tipo Office in the City Hall.

She added that the marketing committee has met with big companies like Smart Communications, Asia Brewery and Pepsi Cola to be the event's benefactors.
