Cyberporn persists in Angeles City By Dante M. Fabian
* Cops rescue 10 chat models in Diamond Subdivision raid
* Operators elude arrest
ANGELES CITY -- Scores of operatives of the Angeles City Police Office (Acpo) including heavily-armed Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) teams raided a cybersex studio inside a house in Diamond Subdivision in Balibago last Friday night.
Seized during the raid include 10 computer sets complete with monitors, keyboards webcams, scanners, dildos and other sex toys.
The rescued women were brought to Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office for disposition.
Chief Superitendent Policarpio C. Segubre, Acpo director, said charges for violation of laws against pornography and trafficking of women would be filed against an American and a Filipina maintainer.
The operators are believed to have escaped and eluded the raiding team by escaping through a back door then fled into the adjacent house passing through an open portion of the concrete fence.
The raiding team led by Superintendent Ronaldo De Jesus, Acpo intelligence and investigation chief, Senior Inspector Myrna Latorre, Women and Children's Concerns Section (WCCS) chief, launched the raid on the cybersex studio at 15-21 Don Juan Street, Diamond Subdivision after several days of surveillance operations.
De Jesus was joined by Chief Inspector Lorenzo B. Detran, Station 4 chief, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Nunag, Senior Inspector Rene Aspe, Compac 42 chief, and Inspector Angelo Alicante, Compac 41 chief.
Telephone bills and other documents found inside the house indicated that this was allegedly occupied and maintained by one William "Bill" Keith Baird, an American national, while the name of Gabriel Yandoc is registered with the Balibago Water Works.
Police said appropriate charges will be filed against Baird and a certain Candy Tuazon, who was identified in surveillance operations to be the manager of the cybersex studio.
The police officers launched the raid upon the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Philbert Iturralde, Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 58 judge.
The studio was the 11th cybersex den to have been busted in Angeles City alone in a span of two years. Several pornographic websites have also been shut down due to the government crackdown on cyber pornography.
Segubre said the police will continuously track down other syndicates operating cybersex dens in the city.
He also said the raids by Acpo are part of the campaign led by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for the sustained campaign against cyber pornography where thousands of Filipinas are believed exploited.
Last August 22, operatives from the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Region 3 raided another cyber studio and arrested the suspected operator, an American identified as businessman James Paul Kelly.
