Town asks for ambulance, patrol cars
By Reynaldo G. Navales

THE Municipal Government of Mabalacat is now finding ways to acquire ambulance and patrol cars that will be used in health services and crime prevention, respectively.

Two separate resolutions were recently passed by the Municipal Council requesting the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and the Philippine Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) to provide the town an ambulance and two patrol cars.

The PCSO, under its chairman Serge Osmeña Valencia, is an active partner of local government units in providing medical assistance and relief for indigent patients, the resolution stated.

It was noted that the population of Mabalacat town, which is host to three resettlements (Camachiles, Mawaque and Madapdap), has ballooned to more than 170,000 as evidenced in the recent census on households conducted by the National Statistics Office (NSO).

At present, the town's two ambulances are not operational and lack the capability to respond to emergency situations like the rushing of patients to hospitals, among others.

The LGU however commissioned barangays for the use of their vehicles in emergency cases.

The PCSO has been donating ambulances to local government units from all over the country, particularly in areas they identified as priorities.

In terms of peace and order, the local police face a huge task in anti-criminality campaign considering its low strength of only more than 60 personnel.

Police visibility is an important tool to effectively curb criminality in the town, said the resolution addressed to Pagcor chief Efraim Genuino.

The resolution also emphasized the need to replace the old police mobiles in order to protect the residential areas and business communities in the town.
