Editorial: Rain, rain, go away

THE rains have come, and with it, the expected floods.

It seems that incessant rains these past few days have inundated, yet again, barangays in Candaba, prompting its officials to declare the town under a state of calamity.

Various infrastructure, as well as farmlands, has been destroyed by floodwaters, according to reports. Damage to infrastructure has been noted to reach some P41.25 million, while that of crops, P10 million.

Some affected residents, instead of relocating to safer grounds, even chose to stay in home in spite of the floods. They said it just takes getting used to.

Such a waste. But nothing can really get in the way of Mother Nature.

To spare any more damage, measures should be immediately undertaken by officials of the province this early, while typhoons had not come yet.

This would ensure there would only be minimal damage, and would one way or the other give constituents peace of mind, however little.
