Senator, guv fund Porac’s P1M ‘baywalk’ park
By Marna H. Dagumboy

IN LINE with the bid to rehabilitate the Porac River in Barangay Poblacion, Porac, Senator Manuel Lapid and son Pampanga Governor Mark T. Lapid have earmarked some P1 million for the launching of the “baywalk” park in the town.

Mayor Exequiel Gamboa led the local government unit (LGU) and the parish pastoral council in Porac in a clean-up drive Saturday morning, as part of the rehabilitation program of the river.

Gamboa said the project was a collaborated effort of the local government unit and the Lapids, who are also residents of the town, in their bid to add another tourist spot in Porac.

He said the baywalk park was designed after the Marikina tourist park.

The Municipal Government, the mayor said, is working hard to make the town as the benchmark of all other LGUs in the province in terms of tourist destination.

Gamboa said the clean-up drive is also in line with the “Pistang Ilog”, which is part of the pre-project launching of the baywalk park.

The clean-up activity involved various sectors in the community, with the help of Porac parish priest Elmer Simbulan.

Among those who participated in the activity were Vice Mayor Carling dela Cruz, Councilor Dexter David, Fr. Resty Lumanlan of the Pampanga Movement and personnel of the Philippine Army’s 69th Infantry Battalion and the Special Action Force (SAF) of the PNP.

Gamboa commended the Lapids and the various sectors for their unending support to make Porac as one of the tourist spots in the province.
