Health cards given out to Fernandinos
IN A BID to address the needs of the poor for medical care, the City Government of San Fernando and the Rotary Club of Central Pampanga, through the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), distributed Monday 100 health cards to poor Fernandinos.
The activity, which was conducted during the regular flag-raising ceremony at the City Hall, was part of the "Health Card Para sa Masa" program initiated under the Rotary Club's community service, in part with the efforts of the local government in providing faster and quality delivery of basic services to the constituency.
RC Central Pampanga's members include Councilors Nelson Lingat, Rose Calimlim and Bernie Castro.
City Mayor Oscar S. Rodriguez said the LGU-Rotary Club partnership will help the needy in attaining proper medical attention and in giving them a better chance of full recovery.
He also said the undertaking is the best answer to the clamor of the poor in acquiring health care, as he challenged every one to help in achieving the goals of the program by giving their best in bringing local government closer to the Fernandinos.
Lingat, one of the prime movers of the Health Card Para sa Masa, said the giving out of health cards is a manifestation of the working partnership of civic oriented groups and the City Government in accordance with the mayor's Eight-Point Agenda.
He disclosed that the beneficiaries of the program would double next year, and will include the poor from other barangays of the city.
Recipients of the project were indigent residents of Barangays San Jose and Juliana. (ABL)
