'Erring' traders warned of business closures By Dante M. Fabian
THE City Government of Angeles said Friday it would close business establishments found operating without the required permits and clearances.
The City said 68 business establishments were given five days to secure permits or face closure.
Reny Mariano, executive assistant to the Office of the City Mayor, said their warning is in line with Tax Ordinance No. 52 Series of 1999, which requires businessmen operating in the city to secure business permits from the City Government.
Mariano said inspections by Business Permit and Licensing Division (BPLD) personnel showed that the 68 business establishments were found to be operating without permits.
He said the establishments were given five days to secure permits and the owners were also invited to attend the hearing at the City Hall regarding their violations last October 19.
He said out of the 68 business operators, only 33 attended the hearing presided by City Administrator Alberto Suller and other BPLD officials headed by Roxas Sangalang.
Mariano said the City will recommend for immediate closure the business establishments whose operators fail to attend the hearing.
The business operators who attended the hearing, on the other hand, expressed their willingness to cooperate and comply with the standards imposed by the City Government on business operations.
